Born in Africa

Born in Africa is a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering children and young adults through education in the greater Plettenberg Bay area. Through academic support, mentorship, life skills development, and access to learning opportunities, they help young people build brighter futures and reach their full potential.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Rhone Hill Polo Club Tuck Shop proudly raised funds in support of Born in Africa. Every contribution helped make a meaningful difference in the lives of local children and students.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported this initiative. Whether you visited the tuck shop, made a donation, or helped spread the word, your support continues to create opportunities and inspire positive change.

Muddy Pooches

Muddy Pooches is a registered NPO that supports children with their animals in the Bossiesgif, Pine Trees and Qolweni areas of Plettenberg Bay. They assist with food, health care, education and sterilisations.

Thanks to the incredible support from our community, the Rhone Hill Polo Club Tuck Shop raised a total of R10,550 in April 2025 for Muddy Pooches.

Masizame

Masizame Child Development is a children’s charity based in our very own Plettenberg Bay, in the local location (township), Kwanokuthula, that provides to the most vulnerable in our community.

Masizame is a registered Child Protection Organisation (CPO) that delivers a comprehensive and synergistic range of PEI services, being Prevention and Early Intervention.  They aim to promote Social Behavioural Change and Healthy Lifestyles through these programs.

As well as their drop-in system, Masizame operates their Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC). This provides an intensive residential care programme for 45 children who have experienced trauma, and emotional or physical abuse. Importantly, Masizame CYCC is deemed as an essential service (akin to hospitals and SAPS) and operates 24x7x365.

Children are formally assessed by the Children’s Court to be CANE – Children who have been Abused, Neglected or Exploited, and deemed in need of care and protection and thus are brought to Masizame as a safe environment with through its therapeutic services allows these children to flourish.

Plett Animal Welfare Services (PAWS)

PAWS provides care for animals in impoverished communities in the Greater Plettenberg Bay Area.
PAWS’ core function is to prevent cruelty to animals through proactive and reactive work.

The organisation was created to sustain the welfare of animals and they endeavour to do whatever necessary to rescue, rehome and rehabilitate the animals that have been forgotten in our community.
