Spilsbury
Sipho is a highly accomplished 3 goal professional player, manager and coach who has been running Rhone Hill Polo Club since its opening.
As an experienced polo pro, who has represented South Africa on multiple occasions, Sipho brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team. He lives at Rhone Hill with his wife Jossie and their two children.
Gonzalo Lopez Vargas
Gonza has been part of Rhone Hill Polo Team since its inception in 2017, playing first in Ireland, then Sotogrande and more recently also in South Africa.
Gonza boasts an impressive track record both on the field as a professional player and as one of the top umpires in the world, most noticeably umpiring the Argentine Open. He manages the team in Sotogrande and is responsible for breeding some of our best polo ponies at his family’s club, Magual, in Argentina.
Thabo Khoko
An exceptionally talented rider and a vital force behind our young‑horse development programme.From breaking in and developing youngsters to fine‑tuning player strings prepping for season, Thabo Khoko embodies Rhone Hill’s commitment to excellence.
Micheal Zimbawo
As Head Groom at Rhone Hill Polo Club, Micheal Zimbawo plays a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing and peak performance of our horses. With years of hands-on experience and deep knowledge of the clubs systems, Micheal leads the grooming team with dedication and precision. He is widely respected by his colleagues for his work ethic and leadership. His commitment to excellence is an integral part of the club’s day-to-day success both on and off the field.
